What is Psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy is a way to help you manage and overcome emotional distress. It’s based on a professional relationship between you and a therapist where both are committed and motivated to verbally explore and process your problems or conflicts and to learn how to manage them.

The therapist helps you decrease emotional pain or confusion, know yourself better, overcome trauma, develop better coping skill, etc. Trust and openness are integral ingredients for a positive and successful experience.

I’m not sure if I need therapy.  How can I tell?

People go to therapy for different reasons. Some begin following or during a stressful time in their lives, and others are motivated by the desire to expand personal growth.

Common issues that bring people into therapy are depression, anxiety, career transition, divorce, the death of a loved one, relationship difficulties, past or present trauma, among others.

Whatever your reason for starting therapy, we will create a treatment plan that fits your needs.

How do I know if I’m ready for therapy?

One of the key factors to the success of therapy is your motivation. If you are ready for change, want to increase your self-awareness and are open to letting a trustful professional help you, then you are ready.

What are the benefits of therapy?

When therapy is working, your life becomes richer, your relationships deepen, and your work is more satisfying. You take better care of yourself and bounce back faster from the inevitable challenges that life throws at us.

Certainly, the process of therapy may not always be comfortable. There may be moments of pain or frustration; but there will also be moments of excitement, humor, and joy.

How long will I be in therapy?

Treatment can continue for several months, and even years depending on your needs and goals. It is always your choice of how long our work together will last.

How often do I attend sessions?

Sessions typically occur once a week and last 45 minutes. Some people can benefit from having several sessions per week. We will work together to find a balance that feels right for you.

How much does it cost?

My fee is $200 per session.  Sliding scale fee may be available, please inquire.

Do you accept insurance?

I participate as an Out-of-Network provider only. Many insurance plans allow you to see an Out-of-Network provider and therefore you may be eligible for reimbursement.

I will provide you with an invoice for your sessions and you can submit it to your insurance company.  If you have an out-of-network benefit, you could get reimbursed for a portion of my fee. The amount of the reimbursement will depend on your insurance plan.
